A card in his pocket, so a stranger knows what to do.

Somebody who has walked further than they meant to, or who cannot answer the question they are being asked, is usually helped by the first person who understands what is happening. A Hii card says that: that they may have dementia, that they are diabetic, what they understand when it is said slowly, and that their family would like you to stay with them and send a message. It does not say who they are, where they live, or what their ID number is — and it never shows a photograph.

A shopkeeper or an auto driver has noticed somebody is confused and wants to help

A fall in the street, and a paramedic needs the blood group before the family arrives

Travelling alone and unwell, in a city where they do not speak the language

What a finder sees

They scan the card and get a page that says somebody with them needs help. It shows what the family chose to share — medical needs, allergies, blood group, how to talk to them, what they speak — and nothing else. No name, no photograph, no address. They tap, type a message, and it reaches the family straight away. There is no GPS in a QR code: it tells the family somebody scanned it, roughly where from, and nothing until they do.
