Deleting your account
You can delete your Hii account and everything in it at any time. No form to fill in, and nobody to talk to first.
In effect from 6 September 2026
How to do it
In the app or on the web: Account → Delete account. You will be asked to type DELETE, and then it happens immediately.
If you cannot sign in: write to privacy@hii.cx from the email address on the account. We will verify it is yours and delete it within 30 days. We ask you to write from that address because we have no other way to know the request is coming from you, and deleting the wrong account is not recoverable.
What happens straight away
Deletion is immediate. There is no waiting period and no way to undo it.
- Your profile: name, email address and phone number
- Every item you added, with its description and photos
- Every Hii tag you activated — they stop resolving and cannot be reused
- Every conversation and message, on both sides
- Scan history for your items
- Notification settings and any registered devices
- Your referral code and who you referred
Anyone who scans one of your tags after this sees that it is no longer active. The tag cannot be reactivated, by you or by anyone who finds it — its activation code is destroyed along with everything else.
What we keep, and for how long
Only what the law requires or what carries no identifier. Everything here is either de-identified or was never identifying.
| What | How long | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Orders, payments and invoices | 8 years | Indian tax and company law require financial records to be kept. The rows are de-identified: your name, phone and delivery address are removed and only the order number, amounts and dates remain. |
| Delivery address on an order still in transit | Until the order is delivered or cancelled | The courier needs somewhere to take it. It is removed automatically once the order reaches a final state. |
| Aggregate counts | Indefinitely | Numbers like "scans this month" carry no identifier and cannot be traced back to a person. |
| Abuse and safety records | 1 year | A record that a session was blocked, without your identity attached, so the same abuse can be recognised again. |
Deleting some of your data without closing your account
You do not have to delete everything to delete something:
- One item. Delete it from your dashboard. Its photos, conversations and scan history go with it, and its tag is deactivated.
- One conversation. Delete it from the conversation itself. It is removed for both sides.
- A public listing. Marking an item returned takes it off the lost-and-found board immediately.
- A tag. Deactivate it from the item without deleting the item itself.
Your other rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can also ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask who we have shared it with. Write to privacy@hii.cx and we will answer within 30 days. There is no charge.
If you are not satisfied with how we handled it, our Grievance Officer is at grievance@hii.cx.
One thing worth knowing first
If you have a lifetime plan, deleting your account ends it. It is not refundable and it cannot be moved to a new account later — see the refunds policy. If you only want to stop the emails, turn notifications off in your settings instead; that does not delete anything.
