Papers are worth nothing to a finder and everything to you.

The usual fix is to write a name and a number on the inside cover, which hands both to whoever picks it up next. A Hii sticker gives a finder a way to reach you and shows them nothing — and for a document that matters, the type is all that is ever published. A passport number is collected so you can prove it is yours, and never shown to anybody.
